The Public Committee Against Torture in Israel (PCATI) wrote the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, Prime Minister Dr. Salam Fayyad and the Minister of Justice, Dr. Ali Khashaan, protesting the death sentences imposed this week against two persons convicted of treason and conspiracy.

PCATI asked President Abbas not to ratify the death sentences as, in our view, the death penalty is fundamentally immoral and a violation of the basic rights to life and to freedom from torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
